Recap from ICA-ASA 2025

The joint Congress of the International Society of Andrology and the American Society of Andrology (ASA) was held in Washington DC between March 29 and April 1st, 2025.

Specific ISA activities during the Congress included a joint pre-congress course on “Male Reproductive Health: From Conception to Contraception”, dedicated to the memory of Prof. Eberhard Nieschlag and organized by the ISA, the International Consortium on Male Contraception (ICMC), and the ASA. In the main scientific program, ISA organized both a plenary session and a roundtable discussion, each drawing significant attention and engagement.

The Congress also provided an important opportunity to strengthen our collaboration with sister societies, including the ICMC and the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS). One of the key outcomes of our partnership with IFFS was the development of a joint scientific statement, titled “Building Families”.

During the ISA plenary session, eight young researchers were recognized and awarded for their outstanding scientific contributions in the field of andrology: Keisuke Shimada (Japan), Zine-Eddine Kherraf (France), Judit Castillo (Spain), Guillermina Luque (Argentina), Margot Wyrwoll (Germany), Aris Kaltsas (Greece), Andrea Sansone (Italy), and Sue Hammoud (USA).

In addition, ISA awarded two international travel grants to young researchers affiliated with ISA member societies- Chiara Abrardo, MSc from Spain/Italy and Anders Hagelin, MD from Sweden.
