ISA Plenary Lecture on Oncofertility Delivered at the 16th SIAMS National Congress

Modena, Italy – September 2026

The ISA Plenary Lecture was delivered by Prof. Csilla Krausz, President of the International Society of Andrology (ISA), at the 16th National Congress of the Italian Society of Andrology and Sexual Medicine (SIAMS), held in Modena from 14 to 16 September 2026 and hosted by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

Presented in the congress's Aula Magna on 15 September and moderated by Prof. Alberto Ferlin (Padova), the lecture addressed oncofertility, focusing on how oncological treatments affect testicular endocrine and reproductive function. Prof. Krausz described the work of multicenter, EU-funded projects studying the late effects of these treatments in young cancer survivors, including PREDICT-AYA.

She closed by highlighting the need for comprehensive research into the potential mutagenic effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. This evidence is essential for giving cancer survivors appropriate preconception counselling as they plan their families.
