ISA and IFFS Release Joint Scientific Statement on Balanced Sexual and Reproductive Health

The International Society of Andrology (ISA) and the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS) have jointly published a new scientific Statement, Building Families—Implementing Balanced Sexual and Reproductive Health, presenting shared recommendations for inclusive, evidence-based sexual and reproductive healthcare for all individuals and couples, regardless of geography or socioeconomic status.

Developed collaboratively by scientific committees from both organizations and endorsed by their member and affiliated societies, the guideline integrates three interconnected areas of sexual and reproductive health: sexuality, infertility, and contraception.

It advocates a holistic, biopsychosocial approach. One that includes early, multidisciplinary infertility management with integrated male and female evaluations, expanded contraceptive options (including continued advancement of male contraception), and comprehensive sexual health education.

ISA and IFFS encourage healthcare professionals and policymakers to consider these recommendations as a standardized package of care supporting reproductive autonomy, equitable access, and universal health coverage. The guideline is intended as both a clinical and advocacy resource, and reflects the ongoing collaboration between the two societies in advancing andrology and reproductive medicine on a global scale.

The article is open access and has been co-published simultaneously in Andrology and the International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics; the two versions are identical apart from minor stylistic differences.
