Ogier the Dane
The ICA2017 logo illustrates the legendary hero, Ogier the Dane, as he sits and sleeps in the casemates below Kronborg Castle. The knight has an impressively long beard and his strong arms crossed, and – according to the myth - will wake up and use his sword to protect Denmark, if needed.
Ogier the Dane was first mentioned in The Song of Roland from 1060 as Ogier le Danois, a noble and brave warrior. Since then, Grundtvig, H.C. Andersen, and the World War II Resistance Movement amongst others have developed further the myth.
