The third German-Baltic Seminar for Reproductive Medicine was held in Riga, Latvia on October 28, 2000.
Onehundred fifty participants from all over Latvia registered for this meeting. The three speakers, C.- Schirren (Hamburg), G. Freundl (Düsseldorf), and G. Haidl (Bonn) discussed many important aspects of modern reproductive medicine during the one-day course. C. Schirren and the local organizer, J. Erenpreis, arranged the following program:
Dr. C. Schirren: Management of the different forms of hypogonadism Dr. G.Haidl: Basic aspects of the spermiogram The problem of varicocele Dr. G.Freundl: Microsurgical or pelviscopic treatment of female tubal sterility Cycle monitoring using modern technical devices Dr. G.Freundl/G.Haidl: Medical treatment versus ART in idiopathic pathozoospermia Gynecological and andrological cooperation – prerequisite for effective treatment of the childless couple The lively discussion at the end of the seminar reflected the relevance of the subjects chosen and indicated that – even in the era of ICSI – comprehensive information about all aspects of andrology and gynecological reproductive medicine is necessary. In view of the many additional topics to be discussed, interest in future similar seminars was expressed.
